Plant-based tuna 25th March 2020

Vegan food company Good Catch has created a version of albacore tuna said to look and taste just like the real thing without using any fish. It’s the latest alternative food product to take a bite out of the $13.7 billion plant-based industry following the growing popularity of lab-grown “meat” brands like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods.

Good Catch uses legumes, beans and algae to mimic the flavor and texture of real tuna, and it’s packaged in pouches instead of cans. The product has been two years in the making, said co-founder Chad Sarno.
