Ecodesign of Thermoformed Cellulose Fibre Lidding Food Packaging

Solpak Packaging Inc. (Solpak) has been active in the food packaging industry since 2005. A leader in turnkey services for its 600 industrial partners, the company is also very forward-thinking when it comes to the environment. The company's director wants to be the first to take the initiative in offering a new range of ready-to-eat food packaging that is 100% compostable and recyclable.

That is why Solpak wants to work with Innofibre to develop a prototype of thermoformed cellulose packaging with barrier properties to liquids (water, oils and fats) for use in the food market. The liquid barrier properties must be achieved without the use of plastic and without perfluoroalkylated substances (PFAS). Work was carried out prior to this request and the results show that there is every interest in continuing the development of this prototype.
