Factory Transfer, Optimization and Production Start-up of a Hydrolyzed Algae-Based Biological Fertilizer Preparation Process

With the support of CRIBIQ and Merinov, Pro-Algue Marine Inc. has developed a hydrolysis process for beached seaweed from the Lower St. Lawrence region, as well as a by-product enriched in organic nitrogen, with a composition (6-0-4) that combines the phytostimulant action of seaweed with the fertilizing value of an organic fertilizer. The aim of the project is to carry out the steps required to scale up these products from the laboratory to a functional production line, at the Pro-Algue Marine Inc. plant in Saint-Simon-de-Rimouski. This includes the acquisition, installation and running-in of production equipment, the production of pilot batches to optimize line efficiency, and the establishment of quality and safety standards for future commercial production. R&D tests to identify alternative sources of biological nitrogen will also be carried out, to ensure production resilience in the event of supply problems with the current input.
