Technological Upgrade of a Plant for Processing a Seaweed Co-product

The co-valorization of effluents in the agri-food industry is an industrial approach aimed at limiting effluent discharges into the environment while at the same time recovering valuable matter.

The aim of the project is to improve several technological aspects of a marine biomass processing plant (Océan NutraSciences, Matane) to enable the profitable recovery of seaweed co-products.

In particular, the hot water and steam supply services need to be modified or improved to increase their capacity and enable them to be distributed between several production lines. Energy efficiency will be an important criteria of the project.

This circular economy project will make it possible to manufacture an innovative dietary ingredient developed by Innovactiv (Rimouski).
