Transformation of Apple Industry Co-products Into High Quality Leather

Flaura cuir végétal is positioned in the luxury textile sector as a producer and supplier of alternative leather. The company's objective is to offer natural and ecological vegetal leathers made from local raw materials while following the market trends.

The company is currently working on the production of a first leather made from apple residues from the Quebec ice cider and juice industry and plans to use other residual materials from the Quebec agri-food industry in the future.

These leathers will first be marketed in the fashion and ready-to-wear sector and then offered in the furniture and ecological vehicle seat manufacturing sectors. Within the framework of this project, Flaura proposes to produce a 100% renewable vegetal leather based on apple residues using extrusion and lamination techniques. In a second phase, Flaura would like to develop an innovative and creative aspect with the use of 3D technology that would allow the company to offer aesthetically unique pieces by working its apple fiber.
