Campus de l'UQTR à Drummondville – 555 boulevard de l’Université, Drummondville QC J2C 0R5
This 5th edition of the Student Symposium aims to focus on the links between students and industry so that their close collaboration fosters the development of Quebec's bioeconomy. It will be held at the UQTR campus in Drummondville on October 23-24, 2018.
The bioeconomy is defined as all economic activities related to the development of the production and processing of bioresources. The current Canadian market for bio-based products is estimated at $230+ billion.
This economic development is based on two (2) major pillars: on the one hand, research and university work are generating and maturing a large number of innovative ideas for possible applications. They explore sectors as varied as energy, materials, chemicals, thge environment, bio-food, etc. On the other hand, companies help to turn these ideas into reality and establish them in the Quebec economic landscape. These two (2) major entities need to multiply their interactions in order to make the transition to the new paradigm of the bioeconomy.
Enable students to develop their ability to convey their research in an industrial context;
Allow students to recognize their strengths and better identify their role in the development of the bioeconomy;
Give students the opportunity to make themselves known to potential employers;
Encourage industrial partners to discover the potential of the next generation;
Develop interactions between research and industry;
Bring together the key players of Quebec's bioeconomy, now and in the future.
