The CRIBIQ’s mission is to promote and support the development of innovative industrial projects in the bio-based economy sectors in Québec.
The Director of Innovation – Sustainable Development and Environment plays a key role in the development and management of innovation projects supported by the organization. With their advanced expertise and deep understanding of industrial, technological, and scientific challenges, they act as an expert advisor within their area of specialization. Their mission includes proactively seeking projects by engaging with companies and identifying collaborative opportunities within the R&D ecosystem, while validating proposed solutions to ensure the sustainability and success of innovations. They guide entrepreneurs and researchers throughout the process, helping them navigate the steps and requirements to maximize the benefits of innovation projects.
As a recognized specialist in their field, they must master methodologies to evaluate and calculate GHG reductions in the context of innovation, apply the principles of circular economy, and address issues related to air, water, and soil to minimize environmental impacts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support industries in the development of their projects to facilitate successful progress toward commercialization or industrialization of their innovations.
- Collaborate with the project coordination team to prepare calls for projects and oversee the reception and analysis of innovation proposals.
- Identify emerging trends, funding opportunities, and new pathways to stimulate innovation activities.
- Recommend and design new calls for projects based on identified needs and strategic priorities in their area of expertise.
- Contribute to the development of proposals for new funding programs.
- Collaborate on integrating environmental impact criteria into calls for projects.
- Participate in strategic events for the sectors covered.
- Ensure compliance and efficiency in processes related to projects and calls for projects under their responsibility while identifying and implementing improvements.
- Supervise the collection and analysis of performance indicators to monitor expected vs. achieved results.
Required Qualifications
- A master’s or doctoral degree in a field related to the bioeconomy.
- Significant experience in developing innovation projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and minimizing the environmental impact of industrial activities.
- Proven experience in developing methodologies to evaluate and calculate GHG reductions in the context of innovation.
- Ability to assess the social, economic, and environmental impacts of innovations and integrate ethical practices into their development.
- Strong collaboration skills to coordinate projects effectively with partners.
- Aptitude for evaluating innovation and contributing to the creation of innovative solutions.
- Experience in strategic monitoring to anticipate technological trends and identify new opportunities.
- Expertise-based leadership demonstrated by a thorough understanding of strategic issues and challenges in their field of specialization.
- Proficiency in French and English.
- Knowledge of global innovation ecosystems (an asset).
