Second Edition of the Forum Innovation on the Bioeconomy in Quebec – FIBEQ 2022 23rd November 2021

Second Edition of the Forum Innovation on the Bioeconomy in Quebec – FIBEQ 2022

The second edition of FIBEQ organized by the Consortium de recherche et innovations en bioprocédés industriels au Québec (CRIBIQ), Innovation et Développement économique Trois-Rivières (IDE Trois-Rivières), Innofibre – Centre d'innovation des produits cellulosiques and the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) will take place from June 20 to 22, 2022 in Trois-Rivières.

For this second edition, 250+ researchers, specialists, industrialists and economic organizations are expected at the Centre d'Événements et de Congrès interactifs (CECi) in Trois-Rivières to discuss the various challenges related to the bioeconomy in the industrial bioproducts, food, agriculture, forestry and environmental sectors.

The first edition of FIBEQ in 2019 was a great success. 350+ participants gathered in Trois-Rivières to discuss issues related to the biobased economy in Quebec and also at a global level. Several topics were discussed and many relationships were established through this event.

The 2022 edition of the Forum Innovation on the Bioeconomy in Quebec (FIBEQ) will highlight several current issues, such as: artificial intelligence applied to sustainable innovation, the agri-food sector in a post-pandemic era, bioresources used in a context of a circular economy and greenhouse gas reduction, the development of new biobased products as a substitute for fossil-based products, entrepreneurship and the bioeconomy as well as other topical issues that will be added in the coming weeks, with the aim of supporting the deployment of a national Strategy for innovation in the bioeconomy.

The implementation of this Strategy is a solution to several issues, some of which are identified in the 2022-2027 Quebec Strategy to Support Research and Investment in Innovation. While being economically viable, the bioeconomy has many advantages in terms of economic sovereignty, wealth creation, environmental footprint and regional revitalization.
