Over 200 Quebec businesses are specialized in various spheres of activity relating to the industrial bioproducts field. Industrial bioproducts are derived primarily from plant, animal, aquatic and microbial biomass or residues. The sector includes three main segments:

• Bioenergy (solid, liquid or gaseous biofuels);
• Bio-based chemicals (reagents, extractable products, bio-solvents, bio-surfactants, bio-adhesives, bio-based inks, pesticides and agrochemicals, etc.);
• Bio-based materials (bioplastics, bio-composites, wood polymers, etc).
