In November 2020, the Quebec government announced its 2030 Plan for a Green Economy (2030 PGE). With its framework policy for electrification and the fight against climate change, the government aims to position the fight against global warming as a major lever for economic development and international influence. To this end, it will be relying on the electrification of the economy, the development of other renewable energy resources and the emergence of forward-looking economic sectors that create high-quality jobs.
The INNOV-R | SME call for projects is part of this vast initiative and is designed to encourage the emergence of innovative industrial projects that have a high potential for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Quebec, whose benefits will enable the province to achieve its medium- and long-term GHG emissions reduction targets, in particular the 2030 target, which is set at 37.5% below 1990 levels.
The INNOV-R | SME measure, deployed by the Regroupements sectoriels de recherche industrielle (RSRI), aims to encourage knowledge transfer and the appropriation of innovation by businesses in the various flagship sectors of the Quebec economy.
